TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Pediatrics RN in Norfolk, Virginia, 23507 Pay Information $2,308 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Pediatrics Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Full-Time Days/Nights, 12-hour shifts (4 days – 36 hours/week), including some weekends and holidays Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Pediatric experience preferred License: RN (Compact License Accepted) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: One reference in entire work history Job Description: – Work in a general medical-surgical unit with a focus on pediatric patients. – Manage patients post Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), specifically those with stable Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA). – Care for patients with new onset diabetes, post-operative recovery, burns, NG tube feeding, and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN). – Monitor and care for patients with PICC lines. – Provide support in areas such as Progressive Care, Neuroscience, Hematology/Oncology, and inpatient rehab. Common Diagnosis/Treatment: – Endocrine disorders: New onset diabetes, stable post-PICU DKA. – Surgical procedures: Tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, appendectomy, pectus excavatum/carination corrections, burn and trauma recovery. – Medical conditions: Asthma, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), pneumonia, Failure to Thrive (FTT), Crohn’s disease, short-gut syndrome, and chronic complex conditions (cerebral palsy, GT, developmental delays). Special Procedures: – Intensive diabetes management with/without Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and implanted insulin pumps. – Oxygen delivery up to High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), managing stable tracheostomy patients (no ventilator). – IV infusion via Peripheral Intravenous Line (PIV), PICC, Central Venous Line (CVL), TPN/Intravenous Lipids (IL), Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA), NG/Gastrostomy/PEG tubes, ostomies, NG decompression tubes, bladder scans, capped tracheostomy (no ventilator), and pulse oximetry. Equipment Management: – Drains, Epidural Pumps, Feeding Tubes, PCA Pumps, PICC/Central Lines, Port-A-Cath/Vascular Device Access/Care, Syringe Pumps, Traction/Halo/Pin Care, and Wound Vac.
