Telecommunications Analyst/Project Coordinator
Birmingham, AL – some travel to GA and MS
3 year project
$40-55/hr W2 only
Purpose:
The Telecommunications Analyst provides dedicated Technology Organization telecommunications field support and coordination of major Engineering and Construction Projects, such as environmental controls at plants, plant decommissioning, new plant construction or expansions. The position is self-directed with specific reporting locations being widely dispersed. Individuals are expected to plan daily project tasks, assignments, and requests with minimal oversight and to effectively interface with multiple parties on a frequent basis. ex: T&PC, PMO, TO as well as Operating Company Power Generation and external parties (venders and partners).
Job Responsibilities:
The Telecommunications Analyst will perform on-site TO field support of construction and general TO projects. This on-site TO field support will include the coordination of work activities performed by IS Field Operations personnel and or contractors related to the installation, relocation and or decommissioning of TO infrastructure (transport, data, and voice equipment or structured cabling, control systems cabling, etc.) required by the project. The Telecom Analyst will support project schedules and priorities by attending construction site meetings and teaming with the Construction Management Groups and or TO Project Manager. Other responsibilities will include quality assurance, project task reporting, materials tracking and as-built documentation.
Job Requirements:
- Understand business, TO and departmental goals, strategies, and plans
- Ensure full compliance with accounting rules and regulations
- Proficient understanding of data networks, voice networks and other major applications that use transport network
- Ability to design and engineer network modifications and or additions from a field perspective.
- Ability to organize tasks and coordinate various employees, vendors and customers / partners to meet project goals
- Ability to work independently, prioritizing major tasks by overall impact to the company
- Ability to arrive at cost effective solutions in support of projects
- Ability to communicate and work with all levels of management, vendors, and other internal and external groups and customers
- Ability to effectively lead meetings and make presentations
- Ability to effectively utilize standard company computing applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to appropriately utilize documentation tools as required by specific job (CAD, Visio, IAMS, etc.)
Competencies:
- General knowledge of information technologies (those currently used within the technology organization)
- In depth knowledge of TO infrastructure equipment
- Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities, meet schedules and deliver on customer commitments
- Ability to negotiate with and influence others – internally as well as vendors
- Ability to build relationships and work in a team atmosphere
- Ability to provide and accept feedback
- Must demonstrate the Our Values with emphasis on leadership and planning
- Professional oral and written communication skills
Education / Experience:
- Two-year degree (college/technical/vocational) or equivalent military training or equivalent hands-on experience in telecommunications is preferred
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in a similar role or field operations technician role preferred
- Proven track record in support of problem resolution and project implementation expected

The compensation range for this position is $40 to $55/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
