Legal Operations Coordinator

At the direction of the Chief Risk Officer & General Counsel, assists in providing a wide range of exceptional support with regulatory compliance, risk management, vendor management, contract reviews, complaint management and corporate paralegal support. Fulfills legal duties and adheres to regulatory requirements. Always acts in the best interests of our client and its members to ensure its safe, legal, compliant and prudent operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides support with reviewing, editing, drafting, and proofreading of legal documents, including commercial contracts and correspondence.
- Reviews and interprets account-related paperwork, powers of attorney, trust agreements, entity documents (e.g. corporate resolutions, by-laws, partnership agreements), court orders, guardianship documents.
- Assists in the development or improvement of templates, department-wide business processes, and policies and procedures.
- Monitors corporate governance and corporate secretarial developments with oversight of the Chief Risk Officer & General Counsel.
- Organizes the development of the vendor management process, consistently offering improvements that increase vendor compliance and continuity.
- Acts as an administrator for and works within the vendor contract repository and performs reviews to identify areas of legal risk and operational concerns.
- Maintains matters organized by triaging priorities, monitoring and updating status, documenting actions, tracking deadlines, maintaining logs, and preparing reports.
- Exercises independent problem-solving techniques to resolve administrative problems; proactively follows up on pending matters; works well as a team player with key business units through transparent and frequent communication.
- Coordinates and prepares meetings with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Prepares reports, correspondence, presentations, forms and other documents often of a confidential nature and requiring individual judgment, without significant instruction or review.
- Promotes and establishes strong, positive and productive working relationships within the organization through commitment to the credit union’s purpose, mission and core values.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
- Paralegal certificate from an accredited program required (J.D. degree also accepted).
- 5-7 years of experience working with attorneys as a paralegal in a corporate legal department.
- 5+ years of experience providing direct support to boards of directors and executive management.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements or contracts under attorney supervision strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with credit unions and financial institutions preferred.
- Experience using administrative and legal technology, with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new programs.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet, and Email.

The compensation range for this position is ($67,000- $77,000)
(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
