Position Overview
The Network Engineer is Responsible for strategic network planning, design, and optimization. Develops cutting-edge network solutions using current and emerging technologies, including wireless infrastructure. Translates business needs into effective network designs, recommending hardware, software, and architecture. Ensures compliance by reviewing and modifying network designs. Manages configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, and wireless hubs. Evaluate and endorse new products while staying updated on emerging technologies. Proactively monitors network performance, conducts capacity planning, and offers improvement suggestions. Proficient in troubleshooting and devising resolution protocols. Assumes Project Leader role for enterprise-wide initiatives
Job Responsibilities
- Manages and configures startup and running configs for network switch equipment.
- Perform network configurations from DMARC to workstations; fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and the necessary topology needed to achieve a high QoS.
- Monitor protocol compatibility, perform system tuning and make recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network (LAN, WLAN, & WAN) multiplexers, hubs and routers, and use remote monitoring tools.
- Perform capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and contingency planning.
- Must know the OSI model and how it pertains to the flow of data throughout the environment.
- Communicate information to Information Security Team on particular firewall rules needed to support team projects and new equipment/applications.
- Maintain and utilize network management applications to identify network faults, to ensure the provision of data or other telecommunications access to customers, and the movement of information from one location to the other.
- Accurate tracking of incidents and IT equipment transfers/relocation through service desk ticketing systems.
- Contribute to Property Management Reports (PMRs) creation and tracking
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Information Systems or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Typically has 7+IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments. Other related networking certifications desired.
- Experience with HPE/Aruba networking
