Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Medical Research
The Director of HEOR, Medical Research (Contractor) will be responsible for leading the development and execution of health economics and outcomes research and deliverables in support of the client’s program in NASH. This person will collaborate with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Safety, and Commercial colleagues, and be the single point of contact for internal stakeholders for any HEOR related requirements. As HEOR Lead for the NASH cross-functional teams, the Director will design and execute outcomes research to generate real world evidence aligned with strategic objectives and needs to support the Program Team, focusing on U.S. evidence and health economic needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop a comprehensive HEOR plan for the program/s, specifically focusing on peri- and post-approval deliverables and activities in NASH
- Lead the development and execution of the evidence generation strategy to support the clinical and economic value of the client’s products, in collaboration with cross-functional partners
- Lead development of key deliverables such as: generating market access supporting deliverables (i.e., dossier, economic models), payer-relevant evidence, and evidence synthesis to support pricing and market access
- Monitor and synthesize product-specific reviews in priority disease areas, in collaboration with market access partners
- Oversee HEOR-related components of the publications plan, and develop publications to communicate study findings
- Maintain a strong understanding of reimbursement dynamics particularly the United States
- Lead training efforts on key HEOR evidence and tools, in collaboration with Medical Education as appropriate, in support of relevant field teams
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to align and support the comprehensive plan, engaging with vendors and external experts to validate HEOR strategy and technical approach as appropriate
- Serve as key member on cross-functional development, medical, and commercial teams
- Oversee external vendor partners – ensuring effective design, initiation and implementation of HEOR-related projects, managing budget and milestone tracking
- Assist with and ad hoc projects for the Medical Research team as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced (Master’s, Doctorate) degree, in a related discipline such as health economics, epidemiology, healthcare administration, with a minimum of 10 years of HEOR experience is highly preferred
- HEOR experience in support of peri- and post-launch activities highly preferred
- Excellent understanding of HEOR concepts; hands on experience with HEOR methodologies across all phases of the product life cycle
- Previous experience in economic modeling, econometrics, retrospective database analysis, and/or epidemiology
- Experience writing research protocols and publications
- Experience developing payer-relevant evidence, including real-world evidence
- Experience designing PRO strategy
- Expertise in evidence synthesis (systematic literature reviews, indirect treatment comparisons and meta-analyses)
- Deep experience in AMCP (Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy) dossiers
- Deep experience in developing economic models and predictive analytics
- Deep experience in the United States market
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of pharmacoepidemiologic methods
- Strong understanding of drug development and commercialization concepts
- Strong knowledge of major markets and their Health Technology Assessment (HTA) policies
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Strong understanding of drug development process and life-cycle management
- Able to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously
- Strong verbal and/or written communication skills are essential
- Strong inter-personal skills and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a proactive manner
- Able to create, track and plan timelines and budgets
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Ability to demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time
