Overview
This client focuses on toxicology studies and safety pharmacology studies. This role will give you an opportunity to support studies that could lead to new products helping patients. Great entry level position to start with an opportunity to grow your career.
Schedule
Hours are for a 1st shift schedule and range 7:00am – 5:30pm. Work week is Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare basic dosing material and samples for vehicles, solutions, suspensions, diets, and dispensations
- Efficiently perform and document all procedures, materials, and results in compliance with applicable regulatory standards as applicable (protocols, methods, SOPs, etc.)
- Assist to sterilize laboratory equipment using autoclave or other methods
- Assist in washing and maintenance of glassware and lab cleanliness
- Assist with the disposal residual dosing materials
- Demonstrate effective communication skills through informal discussions with peers, supervisor, and team
- Actively participate in process improvement initiatives with oversight
- Utilize various mixing methods and apparatuses to prepare formulations
- Prepare formulations under observation of Study Directors with oversight
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: HS/GED/Associate’s degree/Certified Pharmacy Tech (CPhT)
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)
- No previous experience required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve goals.
- Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), commensurate with essential functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
- Ability to ensure that a safe working environment is maintained by observing all safety procedures and working methods by making proper use of protective clothing and equipment, and by reading, understanding, and following all safety documents issued or notified of.
- Ability to ensure the integrity of the studies and fulfill the regulatory agencies requirements by performing the activities according to the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Business Operating Procedures (BOP) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) rules.
- Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, and extended shifts sometimes with short notice or unscheduled.
- Ability to work under specific time constraints
Physical Demands:
- Employees must be able to lift, move, manipulate, and/or hold heavy objects up to and including 50 pounds; this includes work materials and equipment.
- Must be able to perform laboratory procedures, which require, talking, hearing, standing/walking for up to 75% of the day, or sitting for long periods of time, entering data into a computer, or recording data by hand using appropriate instruments, reaching with hands and arms, working in narrow spaces, and wearing safety equipment (PPE) according to OSHA regulations and company standards.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Work in a research environment where the employee regularly wears protective clothing (scrubs, lab coats, safety glasses, and gloves), works with sharp objects (e.g., needles), and regularly works with known and unknown toxins and chemicals.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to wear a dust mask or a protective full-face respirator.
- The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to high depending upon the equipment used.
