Electrical Designer needed for a large manufacturing company in Knoxville, TN.
Investigating, researching, and compiling requested technical data
Selection of instrumentation and panel components as required per specifications
Preparing electrical diagrams and panel drawings, as well as incorporating changes to drawings
Assisting in conducting test procedures
Compile results as well as prepare reports and recommendations.
Degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering Degree preferred)
AutoCAD ELECTRICAL Software: +1 years (Preferred)
Industrial Controls design: +5 years (Preferred)
Electrical installation experience is a plus
Extensive knowledge of UL508A Standard For Safety Industrial Control Panels:
AutoCAD Electrical Software experience
Experience in performing SCCR (Short Circuit Current Rating) coordination
Experience in load calculations for 3 Phase and Single
Proper selection of components and devices for use in a UL508A Industrial Control Panel
Understanding of drawing requirements to include torque, labeling, tagging etc.
Extensive knowledge of National Electrical Code (NFPA 70)
Able to interpret NEC in order for Control Panel to meet the NEC and or field installation.
Ability to select appropriate conduit and conductor sizing
Knowledge of Hazardous Location requirements Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Division 1 & 2 requirements
Understanding of NFPA 496 Purged and Pressurizes Enclosure requirements
Solid understanding of PLC Systems, HMI Operator Stations, Communication Architecture such as Ethernet, Control net, Device net etc., Motor Controls, Variable Frequency Drives, Servo Drives, Safety Emergency Stop Systems, Analog Instrumentation and requirements.
Solid capability of understanding and reading P&ID drawings with capability to develop Instrument Lists, I/O Lists
Solid capability of costing bill of materials, purchasing bill of materials and maintaining project within budget.
Solid capability to keep project on schedule and meet deadlines.
The ability to work cohesively with the Engineering and Manufacturing Team at all levels
Ability to visit customer job sites as required
