Position Overview

The Associate Director sits within the Risk team and is a key advisor to the firm on business-related risks. This role holder is required to have day-to-day oversight of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. The Associate Director reports to the Risk and Marketing Conducting Officer and works closely with various teams across the firm (locally and worldwide), including but not limited to the compliance, legal, finance, accounting, and valuation departments.


Primary Responsibilities

Within a strategic department, the Risk Associate Director plays a key role in our client’s risk management program by identifying, analyzing, and communicating risks that affect our client’s business. This role will interact on a variety of risk management issues, which impact our businesses.

The main role will be to assist the Risk Conducting Officer, the management of our client’s  Luxembourg entity and their other departments in the effective risk management monitoring and will include the following:

  • Work closely with business partners: Compliance, Finance, Operations, Legal, Valuation, and Internal Audit teams in different countries
  • Regularly contribution/participation in the Board meetings of the funds under management and of the AIFM
  • Prepare the quarterly Risk Committee reports
  • Take part in the production of regulatory reports in relation and coordination with the local regulator
  • Design and update the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) to map the operational risks of the AIFM
  • Act as the second line of defence to identify and mitigate operational risk within, compliance, legal, valuation, accounting departments
  • Depending on the AIFs’ risk profile, identify and monitor market, credit, concentration, and liquidity risks in a relevant manner
  • Monitor the investment risk strategies and design charters/policies/procedures to be in line with regulatory requirements
  • Identify and assess emerging risks such as ESG or sustainability risks
  • Be an active stakeholder of risk-related projects including monitoring of third party advisors. 


  • 5-7 years of related work experience
  • Experience in funds industry and specially in the AIFMD framework
  • Experience with operational and portfolio risks monitoring
  • Understanding of alternative investment strategies, products, and various financial instruments
  • Demonstrated experience with control implementations, operational risk management, audit engagements
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues while exercising independent judgment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • CFA or CAIA professional designation or working towards preferred but not required.
