Maintenance Planner
80k – 100k DOE
Job Summary:

A planner accomplishes their task by studying and managing work requests; analyzing job requirements; and determining materials, equipment, and labor needs (such as blueprints, tools, parts, and craft workers skill requirements) and from removing non-productive time from the maintenance workforce to ensure a streamline process to avoid any delays to complete maintenance projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Planning: The planner will schedule maintenance work so as not to interfere with operations or production activities. Their responsible for coordinating and overseen all maintenance tasks from start to finish. They will triage work orders in the event of an emergency or maintenance backlog.
  • Work Orders: Will be responsible for enforcing organization and timeliness with respect to maintenance tasks. This will require documenting maintenance tasks, assigning work orders to the right technicians, maintaining the approved budget, and continuously updating information in the CMMS.
  • PM’s: Will need to prepare preventive maintenance plans that are aligned with the organization’s maintenance goals. Work with maintenance technicians, managers, engineers, and operators to help create Preventative Maintenance SOP’s.

Will actively participate in OSHA related programs (ex. Lock Tag Clear Try (LTCT)/Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) Program, Machine Guarding Program, PPE Program, Hot Work Permit Program, Forklift Safety Program, Non-RCRA Waste Program, Etc.) Will assist Manager in creating, documenting, and teaching safe work practices to department personnel.

  • Administrative: Assists Manager with personnel tasks such as verifying all employees are complying with GMP’s and safety regulations and practices on site, back up support to manager with timecard adjustment forms, assisting with completing time-off requests forms for department employees, coordinating daily cleaning and maintenance activities. The planner is also expected to perform regular site walks to identify problems, safety concerns, and building improvements that need to be completed.

 

  • Project Management Assistant: Meet with contractors and vendors to support Maintenance demands. Stand in when the Manager is pulled off for emergencies. Answer questions and follow up with status or ETA’s.
  • Liaison: Writing detailed work orders and manuals to explain processes and serve as a liaison between maintenance and operations

  • Obey all safety rules and work in a safe manner.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork pertaining to this position.
  • Inform Supervisor or Manager of any unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Pre-requisite programs if in processing or warehouse areas including:
  • Personnel Hygiene (including hand wash procedures).
  • Personnel Processing Practices.
  • Food Defense Procedures.
     
  • Must report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action: SQF Practitioner, Quality Management, Plant/Production Management, or Supervisors.

Qualifications (Competencies, Minimum Education Requirements, Training or Experience)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a planner in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English, preferred.
  • Mathematical Skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Construction Principles, preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and follow directions.
  • Good interpersonal skills/works effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to think creatively.
  • Sound judgement, high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Additional Preferred Education/Experience

  • Relevant work experience or education in mechanics or electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
