QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN SAN CLEMENTE CA FOOD MANUFACTURING PLANT !! MUST HAVE A STRONG SENSORY BACKGROUND AND QC BACKGROUND FOR THIS ROLE. 
Hours: 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday
Reports to: Quality Manager
Will consider either a QC Tech at $20-$26/hr 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Primary responsibility for sampling, testing and approval of finished products and raw ingredients. Tests include but are not limited to sensory, pH, density, colorimetry, viscosity, gas chromatography, FTIR, and moisture. The QC Technician will prepare certificates of analysis and specification sheets.
Conduct product investigations when a non-conforming material is identified and execute material hold procedures when necessary.
The QC technician will also perform QC inspection on the production floor to ensure that procedures and GMP’s are being followed.
Perform opening and closing QC Lab functions – equipment verification/validation etc.
Work closely with many departments, including manufacturing, sales, procurement, research and development, Quality Assurance.
Monitor, verify, and validate Critical Quality Control Points as described in the Safety and Quality Manual.
Verify and validate equipment, product, and procedures.
Verify that plant sanitation standards are met.
Other laboratory duties as assigned by QC supervision.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor of Science preferred, ideally in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or food science. Other desirable characteristics are superior communication skills and teamwork. 3-5 years of QC experience in food manufacturing is required. Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and Allergen Control is required. Knowledge and experience with food regulation is preferred.
  • With regard to soft skills, it is important that this person can work well in a group and is comfortable taking the lead with small projects and making level appropriate decisions.
  • This position will also have some dotted line supervision over an entry level technician
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDER FOR SR. QC TECH ROLE, THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET:
  • At least three years’ experience in sensory evaluation, with an emphasis on tasting
  • Must pass sensory testing that includes identifying basic flavors and bling triangle testing.
  • Bachelor of Science strongly preferred, ideally in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or food science.
  • Other desirable characteristics are superior communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to train others.
  • 3-5 years of QC experience in food manufacturing is required, including lab instrumentation and gas chromatography.
  • 2 or more years in a supervisory role
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee must have no food allergies. Employee must have ability to climb stairs and be on their feet for long periods of time. QC Techs cannot wear jewelry.
