Our client is a lead supplier of power supplies for the defense, industrial, aircraft, and electric vehicle industries and is seeking a Mechanical Engineer due to growth. You'll be part of a dynamic team working alongside Electrical Engineers, supporting power elecronics hardware design and manufacturing. The role is located in Western North Carolina and relocation will be included.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop models of PWBs, subassemblies and final assembly models using SolidWorks 3D CAD software
  • Undertake thermal analysis of assemblies and enclosures using heatsink design and analysis
  • Design, prototype, and test mechanical and thermal devices using CAD
  • Develop assembly instructions working with the engineering team
  • Manage documentation following AS9100D practices
  • Lead testing efforts and analysis for FEA, Thermal, Structural Joint Strength and Sealing, durability and Aging analysis
  • Consistently work on design and cost improvements

Mechanical Engineer Qualifications:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience with mechanical design or mechatronics analysis
  • Experience with thermal devices and analysis is required
  • Experience designing mechanical structures for electronics
  • Working knowledge of vibration, shock, EMI, environmental testing, and analysis is a plus
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Knowledge of military, automotive and telecom standards (vibration, shock, EMI, environmental, etc. a plus
