Reputable law firm in search of an experienced bankruptcy paralegal!
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with attorneys in the Municipal Creditors’ Rights practice group with a specific focus on bankruptcy litigation matters including preparing Proofs of Claims, reviewing and preparing objections to bankruptcy plans, inquiries from parties and the Trustee’s office, general litigation case management (including managing the litigation calendar), and reviewing, processing and organizing high volume of mail and ECF emails.
- Prior experience, or demonstrated ability to learn, handling all manner of bankruptcy tasks for creditors, including but not limited to, reviewing bankruptcy petitions, motions for relief from stay, motions to sell real estate, proofs of claim, payment change notices, post-petition fee notices, transfer of claims, objections to plan, dismissal and discharge orders.
- Prepare and E-File pleadings in connection with pending bankruptcy cases.
Requirements:
- Prior delinquent tax, claim collection or bankruptcy experience is preferred.
- Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proficient in state and federal court electronic filing systems, including federal CE/ECF systems and Pacer
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, staff, clients and taxpayers/debtors.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain flexible to meet client and attorney needs.
- Understand and follow specific, detailed instructions.
- Work well in a team and assist others, but also able to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong math skills and proficiency with reading and understanding account statements
