Senior Payroll Analyst – REMOTE!

Our client is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst for a long term project with the potential to turn full time. In this Senior Payroll Analyst must thrive in a fast-paced environment; have strong experience managing and administering Workday HRIS and ADP WFN. To be able to think critically, with an eye for detail, and can spot when data is incomplete or inaccurate. As an expert in day-to-day operations, you are always looking for optimization opportunities.

The Senior Payroll Analyst will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.


Payroll Processing and Improvement

  • Monitor email inquiries from the payroll inbox and respond to employees as necessary
  • Escalate urgent and critical requests to appropriate Manager or System Department Lead
  • Participate in payroll projects and opportunities as assigned
  • Process garnishments, unemployment wage claims, and other tax tracers as needed
  • Identify and recommend areas within business processes that can be improved via systems enhancements and automation
  • Resolve tickets to end user satisfaction within appropriate SLA’s
  • Monitor the ticket queue for day-to-day changes related to employee payroll related tickets
  • Other duties as assigned

Audit and Data Integrity

  • Audit data integrity between Workday HRIS and ADP WFN to ensure both systems are in sync on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Audit payrolls bi-weekly cycles before payrolls are released for processing
  • Assisting with accounting journal entries for month-end close
  • Provide comprehensive reporting for analysis, audit, and inter departmental support

Team Management

  • Partner with Internal and External Business Partners to test new functional system enhancements, system updates, and integrations
  • Work closely with the other staff members to provide excellent customer service and be back up for the payroll process as necessary
  • Work closely with internal staff and vendors to ensure HR, Benefit, and Payroll changes are processed, accurate funding occurs for all accounts, tax remittance, general ledger balancing, month-end close, and Management Reporting is completed on time
  • Identify and recommend areas within business processes that can be improved via systems enhancements and automation

Year End Scope of Work

  • Assist the Payroll Director with year-end audit to ensure accurate W2’s
  • Assist the Payroll Director with annual audits such as 401k and Worker’s Comp
  • Assisting with accounting journal entries for month-end close


  • At least 3+ years of relevant work experience in a senior payroll administration is required
  • Proficiency with Workday HRIS and ADP WFN
  • Experience maintaining and updating system documentation and adherence to process
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including solid written and verbal communication
  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, take initiative and manage multiple tasks, relationships, and projects
  • A basic understanding of payroll tax
  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with exceptional attention to detail
  • Detailed oriented with a focus on customer service and accuracy
  • Experience and comfort in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office and various remote collaboration tools (slack, zoom, box, etc.)
  • Comfortable working with data and spreadsheets
  • Previous system admin knowledge and data analysis/audits
