My Manufacuring and Supply Chain client is actively seeking a Director of Enterpise Architecture to support their Chicago based headquarters.

SUMMARY

The Director of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for establishing the company’s technical vision and strategy while ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and goals. The Chief Enterprise Architect provides strategic leadership to the overall technology landscape (applications, infrastructure, data, and information security) and drives the maturity of IT capabilities and practices to create long term sustainability for the organization. The Chief Enterprise Architecture leads and coordinates all aspects of the EA practice including Business Architecture, Application Architecture, Technical Architecture and Security Architecture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Enterprise Architecture practice, managing a team of architects (enterprise and solution) in a direct capacity. Build and motivate the team, empowering architects with coaching and mentoring to build a strong organization. Actively works with domain and other architects in a dotted line capacity to insure alignment with EA practices.
  • Lead, prioritize, and develop the overall enterprise architecture approach for the organization, and communicate architectural direction.
  • Collaborate across the organization to drive overall strategic direction for application, data, infrastructure, and technology architecture in support of business strategy, business priorities, and business capability maturity.
  • Assess new technologies and practices that can have a positive impact on the organization and identify technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable business strategy. At the same time staying abreast of technology platforms and packaged solutions from key vendors to make technical recommendations on how best to utilize these platforms.
  • Participate in the review of technology vendors and proofs of concepts to make technology selections to address business needs.
  • Establish and operate the Architecture Review Board (“ARB”) which serves as a governance body ensuring IT initiatives align with the ecosystem architecture and ultimately align with IT goals, strategies, and objectives.
  • Lead the analysis of the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement while driving the IT and business forward.
  • Collaborates with infrastructure, and other teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  2. Professional Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressively increasing experience in the design and implementation of complex IT systems.
  3. Minimum of 5 years in developing and implementing technology strategy with experience in evaluating technologies to meet the demand of the business while managing risk and value of investments.
  4. Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at a senior and executive level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals. Be viewed as a business leader who practices IT.
  5. Knowledge of key technology platforms like ERP, Data Management, CRM, Supply Chain Management, Cloud computing, and Analytics platforms.
  6. Familiarity with IT management practices such as system development life cycle management (SDLC), IT services management (ITSM), agile methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks.
  7. Demonstrated leadership; proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary teams in new endeavors and delivering solutions
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists. Be able to “sell” ideas and processes internally at all levels.
  9. Strategic & Execution-oriented: Possesses the ability to balance strategic visions and execution capabilities to deliver results.
